Different individuals in the material world have different desires. This is explained with the help of a vivid example of an Indian wedding as follows:
kanyā varayate rūpaṁ
mātā vittaṁ pitā śrutam
bāndhavāḥ kulam icchanti
miṣṭānnam itare janāḥ
mātā vittaṁ pitā śrutam
bāndhavāḥ kulam icchanti
miṣṭānnam itare janāḥ
"[In a typical Indian wedding], the bride desires a smart and handsome
man; her mother desires a financially stable man; her father desires a
highly educated man; the immediate relatives desire a good family man;
and all others — they simply desire to have good sweets in the wedding
feast!"
